I Want to Pull My Hair Out!

Is it just me, or are you confused about who to vote for?

The fact that I know more how the candidates feel about their running mates, than what they stand for, is disgraceful. The parties’ various advertising strategies aren't working, at least not on me. Did everyone running for office, and their minions, go to the same marketing trade show where negativity was the only option available for campaign styles?

Can the pitch-people be so naive to think we will buy into their person’s passion without giving us a specific plan of action? Do these sincere candidates think we don’t know that the Government has become an alien force unto its own, and out of touch with us, the people who feed it? These days it seems within the government, no single person can make much of difference, no matter how motivated and honest they are. That is a grim statement, but think about it. The times of FDR or Regan are over.  Whomever we elect will get absorbed into the creature we have created, and maybe bond with other like-minded souls, or more likely, fight the opposition until whatever hopes or dreams the Entity had are mired in the sludge of confusion and stagnation.

I believe a person who considers working for the public good starts out with a true desire to help fix the perceived wrongs. The problem is once they walk up the ramp into the Mother Ship of the Entity, the pitchers and stylers, the doctrine makers and pollsters overwhelm those good intensions. Truth, honesty and integrity get left on the tarmac.

I wish I was clever enough to offer up a solution to save us all from a repeat production in two years, but I am not. The only option is for us, as the feeders of the force, is to raise our consciousness and voices in a challenge.

Remember the 60’s? Look at what happened when there was a shared feeling. It can happen again, the strategy just has to be different….like, there has to be a strategy.  

Demanding politicians give us a look into themselves and what they could realistically do once they got elected is not too much to ask.  Requesting they consider the bigger picture – that of the survival of a nation rather than a political party, or their personal agenda, is reasonable.

The possibility this behavior could be transformative for our nation is exciting. At the very least, a switch to productive informative campaigning would move the candidates out of the boxing ring and give us citizens valid information useful in our decision making. 

Talk to your friends, get focused (off your butt) and raise your voices (gently). That is all we have, that is all we need in order reconnect with each other and stand up for the greater good of our home – America.
